See Youth’s Advice for Dealing with Bullying

Hey there, SEE YOUTH’STERS! It’s Amy, here to talk about something no one should ever have to deal with but unfortunately, too many of us do: bullying. High school can be tough enough without the added stress of someone trying to make your life miserable. So, let’s chat about how to handle it and where to turn for help if you’re facing this struggle.

It says more about the bully

First off, let’s get one thing straight: bullying says more about the bully than it does about you. Whether it’s nasty comments, rumours, or worse, the person dishing it out is often dealing with their own issues. That doesn’t make it okay—far from it—but it does mean that you shouldn’t take their words or actions to heart. You’re awesome just the way you are, and no one has the right to make you feel otherwise.

You’re not alone

Now, I know it can feel like you’re all alone when you’re being bullied, but trust me, you’re not. The most important thing you can do is speak up. Talk to someone you trust—a teacher, a school counsellor, or a parent. Don’t keep it bottled up inside. If you need someone to talk to, you can reach out to Childline at 08000 55 555. They’re there to listen and help, 24/7.

Find support and a safe space

It’s also important to find your tribe. Surround yourself with people who lift you up, not tear you down. Friends who have your back can make all the difference when things get tough. And remember, your school should be a safe space. If you’re not getting the support you need, keep speaking up until you do. No one deserves to be bullied, and there are people who want to help.

Self-care is key

Lastly, take care of yourself. Find activities that make you happy and help you de-stress—whether it’s playing guitar, reading, or even just taking a walk. Your mental health is so important, and doing things you enjoy can be a great way to keep your spirits up.

So, if you’re dealing with bullying, know that you’re not alone, and help is out there. Stay strong, reach out, and don’t let anyone dim your shine.
