Hey, fabulous readers! I’m Bokang, 21 years old and living my best life in the heart of Limpopo, South Africa. I’ll be your ally in navigating life and love, and it’s my mission to make you feel as confident as possible about your choices.
To do that, I’ll be sharing my journey and experiences as a young, gay individual. I hope that through this, you’ll be able to relate or even understand others’ a bit better. Let me explain this:
Growing up in Limpopo as an LGBTQ+ member like me has been no picnic in the park. I don’t always feel like I can be my authentic self while being surrounded by people who don’t fully understand or accept me. You know that feeling when you’re dancing to your own tune but can’t quite blast the music for the world to hear? Yep, that’s been my jam.
My community isn’t always the most welcoming when it comes to diversity, and I’ve had my fair share of hurdles to get over. Discrimination and isolation? Oh yeah, those were frequent guests in my life. But here’s the thing—I refuse to let these struggles define me. Although I’m not out yet, I try to look at my daily challenges as opportunities.
I’m an advocate for acceptance and understanding, and I’m determined to make my community a more inclusive place for everyone. It’s all about spreading love and kindness, right?
I’m also a music enthusiast; on any given day, you’ll probably catch me belting out a tune or scribbling down lyrics. Music has been my therapy, helping me express my emotions and experiences. When I’m not singing my heart out, you’ll find me nose-deep in a book or soaking up the beauty of nature. These are the little things that keep me going.
I believe in the power of change and in inspiring others who might be on a similar journey. I’d like to spread positivity and hope for a brighter, more inclusive future for all of us, and like you, grow in confidence around my life and choices.
