Hi SEE YOUTH’STERS! I’m Lerato. I’m 16 years old, I hail from Alexandra, Johannesburg, and I’m extremely passionate about education and learning.
Although I’m pretty young, I find myself learning and experiencing different things every day – from life, to school, to friends, family and more. I’m sure you’re in the same boat and I’m excited to start connecting and sharing my experiences with you.
So let’s get to know each other! If you could describe yourself in three words, what would they be and why? I’ll go first.
Resilient
You know, growing up in Alexandra isn’t always a walk in the park. I’ve seen firsthand the challenges my family and neighbours face every single day. Limited access to quality education, healthcare that’s far from adequate, and even basic infrastructure struggles – they’ve all been part of my reality. But here’s the thing: instead of letting these hardships get me down, they lit a fire in me to make a real difference.
Dedication
Education, my friends, is the key. It’s my ticket to not just changing my own life, but also the lives of those around me. From a young age, I knew that excelling in school was my path to success. So, I rolled up my sleeves and became a student like no other – dedicating myself to my studies, overcoming obstacles, and showing that where there’s a will, there’s a way.
Determined
Sure, things aren’t always fair. But guess what? I’m not letting anything or anyone stand in my way. I have a dream of securing a bursary and I’m putting my all into it. I’m not just doing this for myself; I want my efforts to inspire my community to believe in their own potential and chase after their dreams.
So there you have it, that’s me in three words: resilient, dedicated and determined. It’s my dream to uplift not just my family and community, but every single person who reads these words. Let’s show the world that greatness knows no bounds!
