See Youth

It’s okay to not have it all figured out

Howzit SEE YOUTH’STERS? Amy here. If I’m being honest, one of the most stressful questions I get asked is, “So… what are you going to do after school?”

Like, I have ideas. I love broadcasting, I can picture myself presenting the news one day. But does that mean I have everything figured out? Not even close.

And I know I’m not the only one.

There’s this pressure to have a clear plan, especially when you’re choosing subjects. It feels like one decision now could define your whole future. That’s a lot for anyone, especially when you haven’t actually experienced the real world yet.

That’s why I think more people need opportunities like Take a Child to Work by Cell C.

Instead of just imagining what a job might be like, you actually get to see it. You get to step into that space, observe, ask questions, and feel what it’s like. It’s not always perfect or glamorous, but it’s real.

And real is what helps you decide.

I love the idea of hearing from other young people too. When someone says, “I thought I wanted this, but then I realised something else fits me better,” it makes you feel less alone. It reminds you that changing your mind is normal.

You’re allowed to explore.

You’re allowed to be unsure.

You’re allowed to grow into your decisions.

The more you see, the more confident you become. Not because you suddenly have all the answers, but because you understand your options.

So if you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a breath. You don’t need a perfect plan right now.

Start with curiosity, because your future isn’t something you have to rush. It’s something you get to explore.
