How to build trust with your audience as a young entrepreneur
Hey, SEE YOUTH’STERS! Zayn here.
As a young entrepreneur, one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced with my business, InternationalT, is getting people to take me seriously. When you’re still figuring things out and building from the ground up, it’s easy to feel like your age or experience is a disadvantage. I’ve learnt that trust isn’t built through age. It’s built through consistency, honesty, and showing up with intention.
If you want people to believe in your business, they need to believe in you first. Here’s what’s worked for me:
- Be real about your journey
Don’t feel like you need to act like you’ve got it all figured out. Share your wins and your lessons. When I speak honestly about challenges like balancing school and running a business, people relate to it. It makes your audience feel like they’re part of the journey.
- Always deliver what you promise
If you say you’re going to launch a drop on Friday, make sure it’s live. If someone places an order, make sure it gets to them on time. Trust is built through reliability. Your product can be amazing, but if your service is shaky, people won’t come back.
- Use feedback to grow
Don’t be scared of feedback—embrace it. Ask your customers what they liked or what could’ve been better. When people see that you actually listen and improve, it builds major respect.
- Keep showing up
One good post or one good launch isn’t enough. Trust grows over time. Keep showing up, keep sharing your process, and keep engaging. Whether it’s stories, behind-the-scenes posts, or customer shoutouts, consistency is key!
Final thoughts
People support people they trust. And trust doesn’t come from looking perfect—it comes from being honest, reliable and consistent. Keep showing your audience who you are, and they’ll stick with you as your brand grows. You’ve got this!
