You can’t pour from an empty cup, so in order to show up in your life, you have to nurture every part of your being. Here’s how to elevate your self-care routine today.
Find something that grounds you
Look for something you can do that brings you peace and joy. Doing so will make you look forward to your self-care routine, which’ll make it easier to keep up with it. Explore different things until you find one that calms you and makes you feel alive and grounded. Whether it’s a few minutes of yoga, journaling or joining a sports team, self-care is much more fun to do consistently when you’re enjoying it.
Include self-care in your daily routine
Once you find what makes
you feel grounded, then you can start to include this in your daily routine. Maybe it can be something you do just before bedtime or early in the morning before things get hectic. Don’t try to do too much, too quickly. Rather, take it slow, experiment with different times and activities and you’ll eventually find a routine that works for you. Don’t feel bad if you skip a day- but be sure to get back on track as soon as you can.
Track your routine weekly
Track your self-care routine weekly or so, just to make sure that you’re not neglecting it. Have a set time where you assess your goals for the week, and see if you’ve achieved them or not. If you see that you’re slacking, then you can find a way to make up for it in the coming week.
Check-in with yourself regularly
Make it a habit to check-in with yourself regularly to see how you’re feeling and if you’re doing enough to take care of yourself. You can do this through listening to your body’s signals which may show up when you’re stressed, or feeling down. Or, you could use a mood tracker to help explain how you’re feeling each day. This’ll help you feel in tune with yourself, while also helping you notice when you need to take extra care of yourself.
Set time in your daily schedule to dedicate to yourself, do things that you love, things that bring you joy, and things that make you feel whole. Remember that we’re always here for you, if you’d like to talk about self-care, mental health or anything else. Send us a message on AskCellCgirl.
Take care of yourself!
