5 quotes to get you through the mid-year slump

We’re halfway into the year and you might be starting to feel a little demotivated. To keep pushing yourself until the end, you might need a bit of motivation. So, here are 5 quotes to lift you up and keep you going.

“Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.” — Arthur Ashe

If you’re feeling stuck and don’t know where to start, just start now and do what you can. This will make it easier for you to do what you must do to achieve your goals. Pushing yourself to start or keep going will help you gain traction until it becomes a habit.

“First, forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you’re inspired or not.” – Octavia Butler

What you’re doing today will determine the outcome of your future. You might not be motivated to do anything right now, but if you push yourself to

do what you must despite your lack of motivation, it’ll be worth it when you see the results of your hard work.

“Y***ou can’t get into anything without really opening yourself up to the idea that it’s going to be long and hard, and that you need to push to get through to the end***.” – Nozipho Mbanjwa

When you start to feel demotivated, don’t stop. Instead, push forward knowing that each step you take will get you to where you want to be. Don’t give up and throw in the towel because you’re tired or uninspired. Doing so will only keep you in the same place, which can become a vicious cycle.

“When I’m not feeling my best I ask myself, ‘What are you gonna do about it?’ I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me.” Beyoncé

No doubt, your feelings are important and can either derail you or keep

you inspired. But when you start to feel negativity, you don’t need to wait for it to get better. Use it to fuel your purpose. Take action despite your feelings- you’d be surprised that doing so can actually make you feel better.

“Nevertheless, she persisted.” — Unknown

If you’re in a difficult part of your life, don’t allow this phase to slow you down. Let it inspire you to keep trying so that one day you’ll look back and say, “nevertheless, I persisted.” Your future self will be proud of your perseverance because even when challenges were there, you kept going.

It’s normal to feel tired and uninspired at times, but you should never allow these feelings to take over and be a setback in your journey to achieving your goals. Think about why you started and where you want to see yourself- that will be reason enough to push through.
